NEWS RELEASE

The "Bass Boss," Ray Scott
Set for Baltimore Fishing Expo & Boat Show

BALTIMORE, Maryland - Ray Scott, the founder of the Bass Anglers Sportsman Society (B.A.S.S.) and the man who changed bass fishing from a weekend recreation to a major league professional sport, will headline a list of outdoor celebrities appearing at the Timonium Fishing Expo & Boat Show, January 11 - 14, 2001.

Scott of Pintlala, Alabama will be on hand January 12 - 13 at the 17th annual fishing show extravaganza at the Maryland State Fairgrounds in Timonium. Scott's appearance is in the Triton Boats display with Guy Brothers Marine.

"Mr. Bass will be in our booth to sign autographs and talk bass fishing with showgoers stopping by the Guy Brothers Marine exhibit," according to Francis Guy, who is hosting Scott's Maryland appearance as a representative for Triton Boats of Ashland City, Tennessee.

"Bass fishermen can see fully-rigged models and examine fishing features on the Triton bass boats being used by some of the best known pros on the professional Tournament Trail," points out Guy. "Anglers, like nine-time B.A.S.S. Angler-of-the-Year Roland Martin; BASS Masters Classic winner Davy Hite; TV fishing show host Shaw Grigsby, Jr., and B.A.S.S. Megabucks champion Ron Shuffield are running Tritons, which has become the No. 1 selling bass boat in the country."

A special appearance at the Timonium Boat Show will be Earl Bentz, president of Triton Boats, a former world champion boat racer and designer of Triton's super high-performance hulls.

"If you have any questions about bass boating or setting up a bass rig, here's the opportunity to talk to the expert," says Francis Guy. "We're excited about Triton's new designs."

"Triton's ride is smooth," adds Ray Scott. "The new TR-22 is a bigger boat - 22-footer - for a smoother ride, regardless of the conditions."

Scott, who pioneered the pro bass fishing sport in 1967 with his All-American Invitational Bass Tournament at Beaver Lake, Arkansas, built the B.A.S.S. organization into a worldwide membership of over 650,000 anglers. His Bassmaster Magazine publication is recognized as the "Bible of Bass Fishing."

The Bassmaster Tournament Trail Scott created is the yardstick by which all pro fishing tournaments are measured. Scott wrote the original rules of bass tournament competition.

In 1998, Scott left the Montgomery, Alabama-based B.A.S.S. organization to form Ray Scott Outdoors™, a marketing and consulting group for the marine and fishing industry.

Scott serves as national spokesman for Triton Boats, Mercury Outboards, MotorGuide trolling motors and Sporting Lives, the manufacturer of the U.S. Coast Guard-approved inflatable life vest SOSPENDERS, headquartered in Fruitland, Idaho.

The story of Ray Scott's founding of B.A.S.S. and the growing bass fishing industry he created is told in "Bass Boss," a biographical account written by Robert H. Boyle, a Sports Illustrated writer. Autographed copies of the book will be made available during Scott's appearance in the Guy Brothers Marine booth. For information on how-to order "Bass Boss" by mail phone toll free 1-800-518-7222.

"Naturally, being here with Guy Brothers Marine and Triton Boats we invite Baltimore-area bass boaters to see what all the excitement is about the new Tritons," says Scott. "With innovative designs by Earl Bentz, Triton's high-performance hulls just keep improving. Engineering and craftsmanship are the best."

"Triton: The Inside Story" is a video tour of the Triton manufacturing facility near Nashville, Tennessee. The video will be available in the Guy Brothers Marine's display for viewing. "Triton's boats are build to last," says Francis Guy. "They're wood free. Nothing to rot." The Triton dealership is located at 23470 Budds Creek Road in Clements, Maryland.

"With more than 25 boat dealers displaying over 350 boats for both freshwater and saltwater, the latest in high-tech fishing tackle and a lineup of world renowned fishing celebrities this year's show shakes out as the best yet," says Robert A. Dobart, the show producer of Bel Air, Maryland.

Showgoers will find over 40 manufacturers with the newest fishing tackle, gear and product offered for ready buyers by area retail tackle dealers. "If you can't find it here, in the show, it doesn't exist," claims Dobart.

How-to seminars for both freshwater and saltwater anglers will be almost non-stop during the four-day event.

Woo Daves, the current BASS Masters Classic world champion; former Classic winner David Fritts, a frequent top-ranked angler in Potomac River tournaments; and Jeff Coble, the 2000 Redman All-American champion, will share their bass catching secrets.

Chesapeake Bay anglers as well as Atlantic's inshore fisherman and bluewater fans will be informed and entertained by the likes of Bill Burton, former Baltimore Sunpapers outdoor editor; Capt. Rich Novotny, director of the Maryland Saltwater Sportfishermen's Association; Claude Bain, director of Virginia's Saltwater Fishing Tournament; striped bass fishing expert with light tackle Keith Walters; and big water angler Gary Diamond, who tackles big bluefin and yellowfin tuna in a "small boat."
