RAY SCOTT OUTDOORS™ NEWS RELEASE
The "Bass
Boss," Ray Scott
CINCINNATI, Ohio - Ray Scott, the founder of the Bass Anglers Sportsman Society (B.A.S.S.) and the man who changed bass fishing from a weekend recreation to a major league professional sport, will headline a list of outdoor celebrities appearing at the Cincinnati Travel, Sports and Boat Show, January 12 - 21, 2001. Scott of Pintlala, Alabama will be on hand January 20th at the sports show extravaganza at the Cincinnati Convention Center. Scott's appearance is scheduled for noon to 5 p.m. in the Triton Boats display with Elsmere Marine. "Mr. Bass will be in our booth to sign autographs and talk bass fishing with showgoers stopping by the Elsmere Marine exhibit," according to Ron Schweitzer, who is hosting Scott's Cincinnati appearance as a representative for Triton Boats of Ashland City, Tennessee. "Bass fishermen can see fully-rigged models and examine fishing features on the Triton bass boats being used by some of the best known pros on the professional Tournament Trail," points out Schweitzer. "Anglers, like nine-time B.A.S.S. Angler-of-the-Year Roland Martin; BASS Masters Classic winner Davy Hite; TV fishing show host Shaw Grigsby, Jr., and B.A.S.S. Megabucks champion Ron Shuffield are running Tritons, which has become the No. 1 selling bass boat in the country." "Triton's ride is smooth," adds Ray Scott. "The new TR-22 is a bigger boat - 22-footer - for a smoother ride, regardless of the conditions." Scott, who pioneered the pro bass fishing sport in 1967 with his All-American Invitational Bass Tournament at Beaver Lake, Arkansas, built the B.A.S.S. organization into a worldwide membership of over 650,000 anglers. His Bassmaster Magazine publication is recognized as the "Bible of Bass Fishing." The Bassmaster Tournament Trail Scott created is the yardstick by which all pro fishing tournaments are measured. Scott wrote the original rules of bass tournament competition. In 1998, Scott left the Montgomery, Alabama-based B.A.S.S. organization to form Ray Scott Outdoors™, a marketing and consulting group for the marine and fishing industry. Scott serves as national spokesman for Triton Boats, Mercury Outboards, MotorGuide trolling motors and Sporting Lives, the manufacturer of the U.S. Coast Guard-approved inflatable life vest SOSPENDERS, headquartered in Fruitland, Idaho. The story of Ray Scott's founding of B.A.S.S. and the growing bass fishing industry he created is told in "Bass Boss," a biographical account written by Robert H. Boyle, a Sports Illustrated writer. Autographed copies of the book will be made available during Scott's appearance in the Elsmere Marine booth. For information on how-to order "Bass Boss" by mail phone toll free 1-800-518-7222. "Naturally, being here with Elsmere's Marine and Triton Boats we invite Cincinnati-area bass boaters to see what all the excitement is about the new Tritons," says Scott. "With innovative designs by Earl Bentz, Triton's high-performance hulls just keep improving. Engineering and craftsmanship are the best." "Triton: The Inside Story," is a video tour of the Triton manufacturing facility near Nashville, Tennessee. The video will be available in the Elsmere Marine's display for viewing. "Triton's boats are build to last," says Ron Schweitzer. "They're wood free. Nothing to rot." The Triton dealership is located at 17 Vine Street in Elsmere, Kentucky. For a free VHS copy of the Triton factory tour, conducted by Ray Scott, himself, write: Triton Boats, 15 Bluegrass Drive, Ashland City, TN 37015. More than 600 displays and exhibitors for outdoor products and services, travel information, boats and accessories and fishing tackle makes the Cincinnati Travel, Sports & Boat Show a major Midwest-area attraction with thousands of visitors, according to Chip Hart, show producer. How to and fishing seminars by experts at bass fishing, catfishing, walleye and stripers from big lakes to streams are scheduled over the 10-day show. Hear from Woo Daves, the 2000 BASS Masters Classic world champion, the winner on Lake Michigan last summer. Other bass fishing pros include Team Triton's Shaw Grigsby and Joe Thomas, a Cincinnati-based touring pro, who will share tips on using jerkbaits and sonar/GPS electronics to catch more bass. For a complete lineup of the seminar speakers for the Cincinnati show, January 12-21, visit the Hart Productions web site at www.hartproductions.com. Or telephone (877-281-0022. The Cincinnati Convention Center is located downtown at Sixth and Elm Streets. The show opens at 8 p.m., Friday, January 12th. Tickets are $8.00 adults and $2.50 children.
