Has Triton's Support

Boating Celebrities to Attend
May 5th Event at Lake Wateree

HARTSVILLE, South Carolina - Marshall's Marine of Lake City, SC, and TRITON Boats of Ashland City, TN have been named as the lead sponsors for the 16th Annual Red Fox Bass Tournament, May 5th, at Lake Wateree.

"Both Marshall's Marine and TRITON Boats contributed to the success of our tournament last year, and we're expecting a bigger turnout for this event," said Charles Smith, tournament director.

The annual Red Fox Bass Tournament benefits the Hartsville High School Athletic Department and has raised over $130,000 contributed by fishermen.

"We're going to try to make up for a shortfall in this year's school athletic budget. The funding is down," explained Charles Smith. "Our program supports over 450 student athletes at Hartsville High."

Started in 1986 by four Hartsville Bass Clubs the tournament has grown to be one of the most popular two-man team tournaments with over 150 boats. For entry information, contact Charles Smith, Ph (843) 332-5076.

With the growing popularity of the event and an increased first-place purse of $5,000, Charles Smith is optimistic a field of 200 boats and 400 anglers will fish this year's event. The total prize fund will be $14,400, according to Smith.

"Competitors fishing the Red Fox buddy-type tournament will agree to a polygraph exam to verify the winning catch was entered in accord with tournament rules and caught fairly," says Smith.

Marshall's Marine, operated by Marshall and Stewart Altman at 114 East Myrtle Beach Hwy in Lake City, is known as "the Bass Boat Specialist." The dealership was awarded the TRITON TROPHY as No. 1 dealer in the country in 1999.

Earl Bentz, president of TRITON Boats, and Ray Scott, known as the "Bass Boss", will be present at the weigh-in as special tournament guests, according to Stewart Altman.

Scott, the founder of the Bass Anglers Sportsman Society (B.A.S.S.), started the tournament fishing craze in 1967 with his All-American Invitational Bass Tournament at Beaver Lake, Arkansas. The B.A.S.S. organization, under Scott's direction, gained worldwide attention, a membership of over 600,000 anglers, and created professional bass fishing signature event - the BASS Masters Classic World Championship.

Scott, now serves as national spokesman for TRITON'S line of high-performance bass boats, and will be on stage as the special weighmaster for the Red Fox benefit tournament.

Tournament weigh-in will take place at the Clearwater Cove Marina on Lake Wateree, starting at 3 p.m.

Prior to the weigh-in, Earl Bentz and Ray Scott will be on hand to sign autographs, talk bass fishing and discuss the new fishing features on the Triton lineup of bass boats.
