President Bush Trying To Reel
In Voters, Lands Rod 'n Reel

Fishing buddy Ray Scott presents
No. 1 basser with new spinning
Reel/Rod concept…

MONTGOMERY, AL-President George Bush and long-time fishing buddy, Ray Scott of Pintlala, Alabama, crossed paths briefly at the Montgomery Regional Airport here Thursday.

Scott, the founder of the Bass Anglers Sportsman Society (B.A.S.S.), presented President Bush with a special new rod and reel.

"President Bush is not here to go bass fishing, this time, but as the No. 1 bass fisherman in the country, he's the first to receive this reel and rod," said Scott.

Scott and former President George Bush and President Bush have fished together at Scott's 55-acre bass lake near Pintlala.

"President George W. Bush is an excellent bass angler," continued Scott, "and I'm anxious for his comments after trying this new rod and reel combination."

Scott explained the spinning reel design is a new prototype to be introduced by U.S. Reel Company of St. Louis, Missouri, and will be one of only two fishing reels still made in the U.S.A. "Most of the fishing reel production has been moved off-shore," he said.

Scott has worked with reel designer Fred Kemp to develop the reel to compliment his rod design of a new line of Sportackle, a fishing concept for 4-pound test line and light-tackle bass fishing.

"We spoke briefly about fishing and the future chance to get the President back here for some serious bass fishing, when his busy schedule allows for a break in world matters," said Scott.

President Bush arrived in Montgomery aboard Air Force One en route to an appearance at Auburn University to attend a campaign rally for two GOP candidates.
